雲端運算為今日熱門的趨勢，不僅在信息技術上產生重大革新，更對我們的日常生活影響甚鉅，雲端運算整合傳統的計算機和網絡技術，從基礎設施、平台、應用程式，都可以提供各種服務，亦可應用於醫療管理、協同藥物開發、旅遊、社會科學、精緻農業、災害防治、文化創意等不勝枚舉。亞洲大學所舉辦的雲端運算論壇(Cloud Computing Forum) 提供一個分享雲端運算的想法、見解、提供詢問和解決方案的平台，本次論壇將邀請主題演講和座談等方式來探討雲端運算的重要議題。

 

Cloud computing has become a hot trend not only in information technology but also in many areas that are affecting our daily lives. According to the NIST definition, “cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction.” It is an integration of both traditional computer and network technologies from infrastructure, platform, to application that all can provide a variety of services. Potential applications may extend to healthcare management, collaborative drug discovery, tourism, social sciences, cultural creativity, to name but few.

Scheduled on March 20-21 of 2012, the Cloud Computing Forum hosted at Asia University is especially for researchers and industry practitioners in relevant areas to share ideas, insights, problems, and solutions. The forum will feature invited keynote presentations and panel discussions that cover major themes.
